Optional

Bespoke timber bases, built alongside the case

The clear acrylic case is the headline — but most museum, retail and exhibition cases sit on a timber base or plinth. We build these in our in-house joinery, alongside the acrylic case, so the whole unit ships together as a single fitted display.

Specify your base when you enquire and we’ll spec it alongside the case quote. Standard options below.

How we make them

Made one at a time, in Brighton

Every case we ship is made to order in our workshop at 11–13 Shaftesbury Place in Brighton. We don’t keep a catalogue, we don’t do mass production, and we don’t outsource. Each case starts with the dimensions you send us, is cut from a single sheet of clear cast acrylic (PMMA), hand-bonded along the eight joints, and finished before it leaves the building.

Clear cast acrylic, every case

We use clear cast acrylic (PMMA) for every case we make. Cast acrylic is optically clear, doesn’t yellow with age, holds its surface polish, and is approximately ten times more impact-resistant than glass — which matters for cases that get knocked, brushed, repositioned, packed and unpacked over the course of an exhibition run or a museum installation. Thicknesses available are 3mm, 4mm, 5mm and 10mm; we spec the right thickness for the size of your case based on load and rigidity.

Solvent-bonded, not screwed

The edges are chemically bonded using solvent welding. The acrylic edges fuse together, creating an almost invisible water-clear seam. No screws, no visible fixings, no gaskets that fail over time. The result is a case that looks like a single folded piece of glass and is dust-tight without anything having to seal it.

Fast turnaround for live deadlines

Most expo, museum and exhibition work runs to a fixed deadline — the show opens on a specific date and the case has to be there. Our standard production is 5–7 working days from order. For urgent expo and exhibition deadlines, we offer 48-hour express turnaround subject to workshop capacity. Tell us your install date when you enquire and we’ll work back from it.

Delivered or collected

Smaller cases ship via tracked courier in double-walled cartons. Larger cases ship on the pallet network in foam-lined timber crates. Local Brighton collection is available within 2–3 working days. For museum and high-value installations we can arrange white-glove delivery and on-site positioning.

Frequently asked

Display case questions

What sizes of acrylic display case can you make?

Any size from small tabletop covers under 100mm cube up to large floor-standing cases over 2 metres in any dimension. Every case is bespoke. The only physical limit is our sheet size of 2050×1520mm per panel — bigger panels can be supplied as multi-piece assemblies.

How fast is your turnaround?

Standard production 5–7 working days from order. Express turnaround from 48 hours available for urgent expo and exhibition deadlines (subject to workshop capacity). Multi-case projects quoted on programme.

Are your cases all clear acrylic?

Yes — clear cast acrylic (PMMA) for every case. Optically clear, doesn’t yellow, ~10x more impact resistant than glass. The case body is always clear. The optional timber base can be any colour or wood you like.

Can you make a bespoke timber base?

Yes. Bases are built in our in-house joinery alongside the case. MDF sprayed any RAL colour, real oak, walnut, ash, or veneered finishes. Specify when you enquire.

Do you supply museums, expos and exhibitions?

Yes — museum vitrines, expo cases, exhibition cases and trade show protection covers are core to our work. Bonded, dust-tight, optional timber bases. Fast turnaround for show deadlines.

Can I cover a piece of art or sculpture?

Yes — clear acrylic display covers (or ‘art covers’) are one of our most common case types. Protects paintings, sculptures, ceramics, antiques and heirlooms from dust and casual touch, while remaining visually almost invisible.

How are the edges joined?

Chemically solvent-bonded — the acrylic edges fuse together giving a near-invisible seam, far stronger than mechanical joints and entirely dust-tight without gaskets. No screws, no visible fixings.

How is the case calculator price worked out?

It uses five inputs: width, depth, height, thickness, and quantity. Calculates the panel area for a 5-sided case (top + four sides), works out the fraction of a 2050×1520mm sheet used, multiplies by the sheet price for the chosen thickness, adds £12 for the eight bonded joints, and applies a 30% margin. The result is a real production price — what you’d actually pay in clear acrylic, excluding VAT and delivery.

Is the calculator estimate binding?

It’s an estimate that reflects our real production cost — we review each enquiry before confirming. For most simple cases the final quote matches the estimate. For unusual geometry, multi-panel assemblies, integrated bases or special finishes, the final quote may differ — we confirm within 24 hours.

Do you deliver UK-wide?

Yes — tracked courier for smaller cases, pallet network for larger or multi-case orders. Local Brighton collection available. White-glove delivery and installation for museum and high-value cases.
